Another example of a popular file and photo storage repository is Dropbox. With both, the contents are stored in an off-site location and can be retrieved from any location with the Internet. Prior to 1996, the security for most patient health care information warily rested in the hands of the health care facilities. In 1996, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) was enacted to assure that patients’ private health information remained properly protected and secure among other health care professionals. As a scanning service we fall under the “covered entities” section of the bill, meaning that we must also comply with HIPAA standards to assist our customers in accordance with the act.

I agree, but think about this: less than 44 years ago the first man landed on the moon. Imagine being strapped to that tube of highly flammable fuel! Twenty seven years ago Dr. Joel Cooper performed the first successful double lung transplant and in 2011 there were an estimated 6 billion worldwide cell phone users. I can remember when they had to be mounted in a car. Now more kids own phones than bicycles! That last assertion is my personal non-scientifical research…
